Rail freight performance in EU countries dropped slightly in 2022 compared to the year before. Last year, EU rail freight transport reached 398 billion tonnes-kilometres, 0,5 per cent less than in 2021. The drop is not so significant; however, it is noticed in 14 out of 25 EU member states as a trend. Lithuania and Estonia were the countries experiencing the highest decrease in tonnes-kilometres with a 49,4 per cent and a 39,5 per cent drop respectively.
