Another new rail freight terminal could be on the way for the northwest of England. A logistics developer, Tritax Symmetry, has acquired a 221-acre (90 hectares) site in St Helens, within the Liverpool City Region. The company, which is already behind other rail-connected developments in England, has plans to bring forward a 2,5 million-square-foot (230,000 square metres) logistics scheme serving the region. The new strategic rail freight interchange project (SRFI) would have direct access to the West Coast Main Line and the Transpennine Route across the backbone of England.
